Once upon a time, I had a crazy dream: to go out into the desert, procure, convert, and live in a retired Boeing 747.
Yup. That’s right. a 747.
Think about it: 1,800+ square feet of living-space under air. The vast cargo hold becomes a huge basement. The upper deck becomes one sweet den. Up to six bedrooms. And since the thing was designed to ply the friendly skies at 40,000 feet at .85 Mach for hundreds of thousands of miles, virtually indestructible (not to mention termite-proof).
Complemnts of Greenacres comes a link that makes me want to cry:
Jumbo Hostel
This is a retired Boeing 747 hat some folks in Sweden have turned into a hotel. An honest-to-goodness hotel.

Wow.
Doesn’t seem like such a crazy dream now, does it?

Butterfly and I worked out tonight. The gym in the hotel we’re at has the most amazing workout machines! Did the elliptical for a half hour; we were going to go swimming, but the pool suddenly filled up with a bunch of screaming 6-year-olds.
Pass.
So we’re relaxing in the room with some drinks, and we’ll go swimming later.

Butterfly and I walked all around the UNF campus today, visited the Osprey bookstore, and ate lunch at the Osprey Café. I must admit that UNF has a pretty nice campus–albeit a small one.
Butterfly is handling leaving her oldest all the way up here in Jacksonville remarkably well, considering the circumstances–although she readily admits that she’s going to be a weepy, blubbering mess when he drops us off at the train station tomorrow morning.
